Sarika's early life was marked by abandonment and child acting. She left home at 21. Sarika met Kamal Haasan amidst social pressures. Their relationship faced backlash. They had two daughters, Shruti and Akshara, out of wedlock. Securing housing was difficult. The couple eventually married but later divorced in 2004. Sarika also fought a legal battle over her mother's flat.
