Employment in unorganised sector dips in April-June quarter; no. of working owners up

India's unincorporated sector saw a slight dip in employment during April-June 2025, falling to 12.9 crore from 13.1 crore in the previous quarter, despite an increase in the number of enterprises. The decline was linked to fewer hired workers and weaker manufacturing performance, while self-employment and owner-driven businesses increased, alongside a rise in rural workforce participation.
