Rudy Giuliani, former New York City mayor, is to receive the US Presidential Medal of Freedom days after being injured in a car crash. A graduate of Manhattan College and NYU Law, Giuliani built a career as a federal prosecutor before becoming mayor in 1994. He gained national prominence after the 9/11 attacks and later became a key legal ally of Donald Trump. Giuliani has since faced disbarment and criminal charges related to the 2020 election.
