Aliens illegally entering India to face 5 years' jail & fine up to Rs 5 lakh

India's new Immigration & Foreigners Act, 2025, effective September 1, consolidates four existing laws. Entering India without valid documents now carries a penalty of up to five years' imprisonment and a Rs 5 lakh fine. Forged documents lead to harsher penalties. Educational and medical institutions must report foreign nationals' details.
